Craig Berger, an analyst at US investment company FBR Capital Markets, disclosed in a media article today that Apple may launch a new "iPad 2 Plus" device this year.
In an investor report, Craig Berger said he believes Apple will release iPad 2 Plus devices later this year. Craig Berger quoted Apple's supplier as saying that Apple had already issued orders for this new device to different suppliers, but there is currently no specific production schedule confirmed.
Berger added that the iPad 2 Plus's display resolution will reach 250-300 PPI, while the iPad 2 and 1 will have the same display resolution of 132 PPI.
Despite continuing to get hints from the apple supply chain, Craig Berger is still waiting for more precise news. “Although we are excited about this news, we are waiting to obtain the verifiable data from
Other suppliers in order to fully believe that Apple will launch the iPad 2 Plus device in 2011.â€
In addition, Craig Berger estimates that the iPad 2 will have sales of 10 million units in the second quarter of this year and 1,650 units in the third quarter.
Before Craig Berger released his research report, there were media reports that Apple will launch the iPad 3 with a display resolution of 250 PPI in October this year.
