Diodes Incorporated introduces the LED driver AL1697 for line-powered Triac dimmable LED lighting applications. The new product utilizes a single-stage high power factor dimming circuit that meets the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) SSL-6 dimming curve standard, with leading edge-edge and trailing-edge Triac dimmers. Compatible with each other to provide optimal linearity and load regulation. The AL1697 integrates MOSFETs to eliminate auxiliary windings, reducing peripheral material costs and reducing printed circuit board area, enabling LED lamps up to 15W to be an attractive and competitive solution.
The AL1697 is a high precision and high efficiency buck-boost LED driver with a topological structure that delivers precise output current for excellent linearity and load regulation. The device design supports non-isolated buck-boost operation to meet the different requirements of the various luminaires for isolated drive power. The AL1697 uses a critical conduction mode that improves conversion efficiency, reduces switching noise, and simplifies EMI design. It has a low startup current of 130μA and a low operating current of 170μA.
The AL1697 offers two MOSFET options, including a 4Ω drain-to-source on-resistance specification for up to 2A/600V operation and a 1.8Ω super-juncTIon on-resistance specification for 4A/650V operation. The device is equipped with standard internal protection features including output short-circuit, over temperature, undervoltage lockout, leading edge blanking and cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection. For added safety and reliability, it also provides overvoltage/output open circuit and thermal foldback protection.
The AL1697-20CS7-13 (2A/600V) and AL1697-40DS7-13 (4A/650V) MOSFETs are available in small SO-7 packages and shipped in quantities of up to 10,000.
