Tencent Digital (Shawn) The Disney Research Institute recently published a paper in the academic journal PLOS ONE, which describes its long-distance wireless charging method. This technology can transfer power to electronic devices in the room, allowing them to be charged just like Wi-Fi signals.
According to reports, Disney researchers specifically set up a 16x16 foot (about 10 square meters) room in the laboratory to display this type of charge called quasi-static cavity resonance (QSCR). Under its effect, researchers were able to safely generate near-field standing wave magnetic waves in the room and use it to provide power for multiple cell phones, fans, and lamps.
The QSCR generates currents in metalized walls, floors, and ceilings in the room, creating a uniform magnetic field that can penetrate the room. As a result, the receiving coil operating at the same resonant frequency can obtain power in a sufficiently efficient manner.
Because the induced current in this structure is guided by the separation capacitor, this isolates the potentially harmful electric field.
According to the experimental simulation, this technology can transmit 1.9KW of electric energy under the premise of meeting the federal safety standards, which is equivalent to charging 320 smartphones at the same time.
"This innovative approach will allow electricity to become as ubiquitous as Wi-Fi," said Alanson Sample, deputy director and first research scientist at the Institute for Laboratory Studies at Disney.
