Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Power Station at Grand Bahama Island

The Bahamas Daily reported on June 27, 2011 that the Grand Bahama Power Company recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new power station and celebrated the official start of the construction of a new diesel power station with a US$80 million investment in the second largest island in the Bahamas. Officials from the Pakistani Ministry of Public Works, including the Minister of Public Works, Minister of Housing Russell, attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Grant said that the construction of a new 52 MW diesel power station will not only significantly improve the reliable and stable power supply of the Grand Bahama Island, but also increase 70 long-term employment positions and make positive contributions to improving the employment situation in the Bahamas.

According to the plan, the power station will be completed in the summer of 2012.
