“In the next decade, virtual reality technology will bring unprecedented and subversive development in the field of life sciences and medicine.†Academician Zhao Puping of the Chinese Academy of Engineering asserted at the 17th China Virtual Reality Congress held recently. He believes that virtual reality will become a new platform and a new experimental method for translational medical research. It will promote surgical planning, surgical training, new surgical research, and new drug development. Zhao Shuping said, “The development of the physiological physiology modeling technology, the development of new software platforms, and the availability of data have jointly promoted the new development of bio-simulation technology. The application of bio-simulation preview will support the development of new therapeutic drugs and will meet the needs of the pharmaceutical industry. Development of new methods for the treatment of incurable diseases, reducing the R&D risks and costs arising therefrom." He believes that with the development of VR, especially with the extension of virtual reality to the medical field, the virtual human body becomes a foundation. The physiological models of the human body's various scale units and the human brain and its intelligent feature models are the ultimate research goals of the virtual human body, and this requires the common development of molecular biology, biophysics, systems biology, brain science and artificial intelligence research.
