Global chip sales increased to 271.8 billion U.S. dollars from January to November last year

According to foreign media reports, the Semiconductor Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as “SIA”) stated that in November 2010, global chip sales were US$26 billion, a decrease of 0.9% from the previous quarter, but a 14.4% increase from the US$22.7 billion in the same period of 2009. The global chip sales from January to November 2010 increased from 202.8 billion U.S. dollars in the same period of 2009 to 271.8 billion U.S. dollars.

Brian Toohey, president of SIA, said: "Despite the uncertain macroeconomic situation, the growth rate of chip sales in 2010 was the highest in nearly 10 years. The application of advanced technology has prompted the chip to be used in more Multi-products, such as tablets, smart phones, e-readers and automobiles, boosted chip sales in 2010. With economic recovery and consumer confidence recovery, chip sales will continue to grow moderately until the end of 2012."
