The LED industry is one of the strategic emerging industries that Guangdong Province has focused on in the near future. During the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, it will be supported from a special fund of strategic emerging industries in Guangdong Province with a total amount of 10 billion yuan. In 2011, Guangdong Province will invest in LED industry development. Special funds amounted to 450 million yuan.

In recent years, the LED industry in Guangdong Province has developed rapidly with an annual average compound annual growth rate of more than 30%, driven by the demonstration project of the "1000 Miles" demonstration project and the special action plan for green lighting demonstration cities organized by the Guangdong Science and Technology Department. With an annual output value of 39 billion yuan, it is in a leading position in the country in terms of production and sales value, export value, and industrial concentration. It is estimated that by 2015, the scale of LED industry in Guangdong will exceed 300 billion yuan, the global LED lighting will exceed the traditional light source, the market share will account for more than 50%, the market size will exceed 200 billion US dollars, and the development of LED industry in Guangdong has bright prospects.

To further promote the sustainable development of the LED industry in Guangdong Province, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology promoted the establishment of the Guangdong Semiconductor Light Source Industry Association. As a provincial LED industry organization, the association will build a bridge of communication and interaction between the government and enterprises, timely transfer government industrial policies and market information to enterprises, strengthen industry exchanges and collaboration, promote integration and sharing of industry resources, and guide And promote the healthy and orderly development of the LED industry.
