Vishay Introduces Industry's First Asymmetric Packaged Two-Chip MOSFET Certified by Automotive Electronic Component Standard AEC-Q101

Asymmetric package optimizes RDS(on) of low-side MOSFETs, saving space in synchronous DC/DC converters

Pennsylvania, MALVERN — December 12, 2013 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the launch of the new 40V dual-chip N-channel with AEC-Q101 certification in an asymmetric PowerPAK® SO-8L package. TrenchFET® power MOSFETs - SQJ940EP and SQJ942EP. Vishay Siliconix's two devices can be used in automotive applications, combining high-side and low-side MOSFETs required for high-efficiency synchronous DC/DC buck converters into a small 5mm x 6mm package, saving space compared to discrete MOSFETs The low on-resistance of the low-side MOSFET is as low as 6.4mΩ.

These MOSFETs released today are the industry's first automotive-certified two-chip MOSFETs in an asymmetric package that reduces the conduction losses and increases the size of the low-side MOSFETs. The device operates at +175°C and offers the durability and reliability required for applications anywhere in the car. The device is especially suitable for in-vehicle communication entertainment systems such as radios and GPS systems.

The SQJ940EP and SQJ942EP allow designers to choose different on-resistance values. At 10V, the SQJ940EP's channel 2 low-side MOSFET has a maximum on-resistance of 6.4mΩ, and the channel 1 high-side MOSFET has an on-resistance of 16mΩ. Compared to the two-chip symmetrical scheme, the SQJ940EP has a low on-resistance of 31% and a small size. The maximum low-side on-resistance of the SQJ942EP at 10V is 11mΩ, and the on-resistance of the high-side MOSFET is 22mΩ.

These MOSFETs are 100% Rg and UIS tested, RoHS compliant, halogen free.
