On May 20th, 2016, ROHM Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Kyoto, Japan) teamed up with Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) to hold "2016 Tsinghua-Rome" at Tsinghua University "Tsinghua-Rom Electronic Engineering Museum" Tsinghua-ROHM InternaTIonal Forum of Industry-Academia 2016:TRIFIA2016).
This year, it is already the seventh year of the forum. As Tsinghua University and Roma, the seminar is held on the theme of hot research. The guests of this forum include many Chinese and foreign industry, including university personnel. experts and scholars.
Mr. Gao Qiquan, Global Executive Vice President of China's representative semiconductor company Ziguang Group, gave a wonderful speech on the future of the Sino-Japanese semiconductor industry's prosperity and the importance of cooperation. At the same time, ROHM also released information on the progress of industry-university cooperation in the fields of Internet of Things (IoT) and Power Electronics.

At the forum, Professor Shi Luping, director of the Brain Computing Center of Tsinghua University, and Professor Emeritus Songbo Hong of Kyoto University delivered speeches respectively. Prof. Shi Luping introduced the extremely high-end brain-like computing technology in an easy-to-understand way, sharing innovations that greatly improve computing power and energy efficiency through integration and miniaturization.
In addition, as an irreplaceable contribution to the introduction of silicon carbide (SiC) power devices, Professor Song Bo, the world-class authority, explained to the audience the importance of SiC power devices for efficient energy conversion that modern society aspires to. The research and application status and future prospects of SiC are introduced. In particular, manufacturing, circuit technology and application technology centered on SiC power components have been discussed in depth. From the manufacturing technology of components and modules, to the application of EV and power supplies, the status quo and expectations of SiC power components have also been actively discussed.

For the students related to semiconductors, we not only explained the manufacturing process of semiconductor components, but also introduced technologies such as ferroelectric memory (FeRAM) and MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems). In addition, there are related content of semiconductor commercial promotion for new markets based on IoT (Internet of Things).
The site also demonstrated the results of cooperation between Tsinghua University and Roma and the R&D activities of both parties, which enabled the participants to have a deeper understanding of the cooperation between Tsinghua and Roma. Roma believes that this year's forum will further enhance the level of long-term joint research with Tsinghua University and contribute more to the global market.

As early as April 2006, Tsinghua University and Roma signed the “Industry-School Cooperation Framework Agreement†to promote the joint research and technology exchange around cutting-edge technology development, starting with “using photonic technology to develop biosensing structuresâ€. IC and semiconductor components, optical components and modules, biosensing and other topics have carried out joint research and technical exchanges.
In order to further deepen the technical exchange, the two sides successfully held the "Tsinghua-Roma International Industry-University Forum" (TRIFIA) for the first time in 2010. After that, technical seminars were held each year on the theme of hot research.
In addition, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Tsinghua University in 2011, as a base to further strengthen the cooperation between the two industries, Roma has donated the Tsinghua-Rom Electronic Engineering Museum in Tsinghua University. In January 2012, ROHM's research facility was added to the Electronic Engineering Museum, and Tsinghua University conducted joint research on cutting-edge technologies. In recent years, sensors and sensor network technologies, power electronics technology, and digital TV ICs have been added. The field has achieved fruitful research results.
