Microsoft develops intelligent thermostat GLAS equipped with voice assistant Xiaona
Electronic enthusiasts at eight o'clock in the morning: Microsoft has developed a smart thermostat called GLAS, which is equipped with Microsoft's voice assistant Cortana (Xiao Na), which can automatically detect whether there are people in the room and the air quality in the room.
This product runs a Windows 10 IOT Core system customized for small devices.
Microsoft showed GLAS in a short video posted on YouTube on July 19.
The design of GLAS is similar to similar devices launched by Google Nest or Hive in the UK. Users can check the temperature, air quality, energy usage and even calendar information through the touch screen. The biggest difference between it and similar devices is that it supports voice activation.
The device was jointly developed by Microsoft and Johnson Controls, a US thermostat maker. But neither company disclosed whether it would sell the device to consumers in the United States or the United Kingdom, nor did it disclose the price of the device.
This thermostat is the latest case of Microsoft promoting its voice assistant in smart home devices. The upgraded version of Windows 10 Creator it released in March this year means that any smart home appliance with a display can run Cortana, so it may only want to use the device to show consumers the use of Cortana in the field of smart home.
This means that next year we may see more smart devices equipped with Cortana.
