Partial Discharge Test of 1000 kV Jingmen UHV Transformer

On July 22, the UHV transformer at the core of the 1000-kilovolt Jingmen UHV expansion project successfully completed the partial discharge test, marking an important progress in the test work for the expansion project.

On July 12, more than 20 professional test personnel from Hubei Electric Power Company came to the site of the expansion project and began special tests on the equipment in the 1,000-kV Jingmen UHV substation. After completing the preparation work, from July 19 to July 22, the testers conducted partial discharge tests on three UHV transformers in the station and achieved complete success.

The party committee of Hubei Electric Power Company attached great importance to the construction of the UHV expansion project. On July 22, Yin Zhengmin, the general manager of Hubei Electric Power Co., Ltd., who had just taken up a new job, came to Jingmen on the first working day to investigate the construction of the 1000-kV Jingmen UHV substation expansion project. In the course of the investigation, Yin Zhengmin stated that the UHV project is a sacred place for people in the electric power industry and is an ideal pursued by electric power people. It is a focus project that attracts attention from across the country and the world. He asked the company to participate in the construction of a scientific and standardized construction team, strict project quality, ensure that the construction tasks of the Hubei company will be completed in a certain period of time, will win the service, and submit a satisfactory answer to the party of the State Grid Corporation of China.

It is reported that the 1000-kilovolt Jingmen UHV expansion project started construction on December 31, 2010. At present, the installation of downholes, jumpers, and isolating switches in the 1000-kV area has been completed. HGIS installation work is being accelerated.
