Avago introduced the industry's smallest 1 watt LED
Avago Technologies has announced the launch of one of the industry's smallest high-power LED products for solid-state lighting applications. Measuring 5mm x 4mm x 1.85mm, Avago's ASMT-Jx1x new compact 1W LEDs are available in a small SOP package with high light output performance with drive currents up to 350mA. Offering a wide viewing angle, MSL 1 humidity sensitivity and high reliability, this cost-effective 1W compact LED is ideal for space-constrained lighting applications, including portable lighting, street lighting, and architectural exterior lighting. Retail display lighting, backlighting and special lighting. Avago is a leading provider of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications.
Despite its compact size, the ASMT-Jx1x offers a viewing angle of up to 165o, meeting the needs of design engineers who need good color and photometric output in lighting applications. Avago's ASMT-Jx1x is a high temperature and high drive current handling capability. High-performance LEDs provide up to 87 lumens (lm) of high-luminosity output with a drive current of 350mA. The LED can withstand junction temperatures up to 150oC and high ESD at 16kV, making it immune to ESD interference, so no special ESD protection is required during installation. This 1W LED is compatible with standard SMT surface mount reflow soldering procedures, which not only reduces design costs, but also gives lighting design engineers greater freedom and flexibility in application design.
