Deloitte: Top Ten Technology Trends in the World in 2018

We are currently at a critical point: machine learning will be rapidly gaining popularity in the enterprise market, further enhancing business operations and enabling companies to make better decisions and provide enhanced or new products and services. ”

The following are Deloitte's nine major predictions for the global technology market in 2018:

In 1.2018, more than one billion smartphone users worldwide will have at least one experience in creating augmented reality (AR) content. Among them, about 300 million users create AR content at least once a month, and tens of millions of users create AR content every week.

2. Advertising intercepts the general trend. In North America, three-quarters of adult Internet users are already engaged in some form of advertising interception. Internet users with relatively small ages, higher education levels, and higher incomes are more likely to intercept advertisements.

3. Live broadcast is still king. The total length of TV viewing by American TV viewers is about 1.1 billion hours per day. Live broadcasts and events in 2018 will bring in more than $545 billion in direct revenue, with TV advertising and subscription fees of about $358 billion. Livestreaming revenue will reach 7.4 billion US dollars, China will remain the largest market, the market size will reach 4.4 billion US dollars, an increase of 86% compared with 2016.

In 4.2018, esports revenue will exceed the $1 billion mark for the first time, compared to $325 million in 2015. In 2016, the global e-sports watch time was about 6 billion hours, which is equivalent to five times that of 2010. However, it only increased by 19% year-on-year, which is only equivalent to 5.3 days of TV watching time for American TV viewers. In the 6 billion hours of e-sports watch time in 2016, Chinese consumers accounted for 50% of the watch time.

5. Consumers open wallets for digital transactions. By the end of 2018, 50% of adults in developed countries worldwide will have at least two online media subscriptions. By the end of 2020, there will be an average of four online media subscriptions.

6. The global mobile market is becoming saturated, with over 90% of adults in developed countries owning a mobile phone. One-fifth of North American households will access all Internet data via mobile phone mobile networks. At the same time, 45% of adults worldwide and 65% of the Millennials (born 1984-2000) realize that they use their phones too frequently in certain activities, so they will try to limit their use in 2018. .

7. By 2023, more than 1.85 billion mobile phones will be sold worldwide each year, equivalent to 5 million mobile phones per day. This means that if these phones are connected end to end, their total length will be equivalent to half the distance from the Earth to the Moon. In 2023, smartphone users interact 65 times a day with their mobile phones, an increase of 20% compared to 2018.

8. The length of time that Millennials watched TV continued to decline. In 2018 and 2019, in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, the length of watching TV for millennials will fall by 4% to 11% per year. In the past seven years, this decline has remained stable.

9. Thanks to new chips and better software tools, efforts to test and deploy machine learning technology will double in 2018.
