Overview:

The DS2740 is ideal for providing high-precision current-throughput data for cost-sensitive applications for battery capacity monitoring. The current is measured in both directions with a dynamic range of up to 15 bits (DS2740U) or 13 bits (DS2740BU), and the net flow is accumulated in a separate 16-bit register. Through the 1-Wire® interface, the DS2740 allows the host system to have read/write access to its status and current measurement registers. Each device has a unique factory-programmed 64-bit network address that allows the primary system to be individually addressed and supports multiple battery bays to work together. The interface can operate in standard or overdrive timing mode.

Although the DS2740 is primarily designed for use in the main system, it can also be used in battery packs. Using the DS2740 and FuelPackTM algorithms, coupled with temperature and voltage measurements supported by the host, constitutes a complete and accurate solution for estimating remaining capacity.
