It is understood that the semiconductor lighting chip equipment project signed yesterday was developed by the research and development team of Professor Gan Zhiyin of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and reached a cooperation development agreement with the Zhaoxin Group. After fully demonstrating and evaluating the project, both the production and research institutes determined that the project budget investment is about 500 million yuan, and the initial investment is 80 million yuan.

The reporter learned that the project has completed all the technical information of the project and is preparing for the project prototype and project industrialization. According to Professor Gan Zhiyin, the prototype is expected to be operational within one year. Once the industrialization of the core equipment of domestic semiconductor lighting chips is introduced to the market, the domestic semiconductor lighting industry will truly master the technological initiative and commanding heights, which will greatly reduce the investment cost of LED chip production, which will bring revolutionary impact to the domestic LED industry. At present, LED lights are still in the trial application stage in China, and the resistance to widespread promotion is its high cost. "One of the most fundamental reasons is that the high import price of semiconductor lighting chip equipment leads to high production cost of the chip." Professor Gan Zhiyin said that the current import of a semiconductor lighting chip device from abroad is 15 million yuan, often a chip manufacturer needs to purchase. Multiple devices can achieve a certain mass production scale. High acquisition costs hinder the development of the industry.

In this regard, Peng Ping also said that currently Guangdong accounts for 70% of the domestic LED packaging products and applications, but the most lacking is the LED upstream industry chain - chip extension equipment. Will have autonomous and complete LED industry chain
