Under the condition that the LED outdoor display ensures the same brightness (that is, the LED current does not change), the power supply voltage can only be reduced to achieve energy saving and emission reduction. At present, most of the inflection point voltage of the LED constant current driving chip on the market is about 0.7V IOUT=20mA, plus the line loss, line tube and other losses, the power supply voltage can only be designed at 5V. Mingwei Electronics has provided an innovative design of the dedicated constant current chip SM16227 for LED display energy saving solutions.
Main features of SM16227:
♦ Low turning point constant current Vds=0.2V @IOUT=20mA, which can reduce the power supply voltage of LED display, which can save up to 24%.
Application Case 1: A SM16227 project in a certain place in Guangxi, specifications: P10, 2 sweep, brightness 7500cd, module specification 32*16 maximum current is 9A, 1 box 18 modules, a total of 105 cabinets total 96.768 Square meters. Using energy-saving constant current chip SM16227, plus national standard wire and Rds (on) MOS, the power supply design is as follows:
The traditional 5V scheme has a maximum power consumption of this screen = 5x9x18x105=85.05KW;
The maximum power consumption of the 3.8V scheme is 3.8x9x18x105=64.638KW;
Assuming commercial power consumption averages 1 yuan / kWh, this screen plays 24 hours a day, calculated with maximum power consumption;
In one year, it can save 178,800 yuan. Although the advertisement is not the maximum power consumption, the percentage of electricity savings is still 24%.
Application Case 2: Grille screen, glass curtain wall, due to structural limitations, the pressure difference between the edge of the box and the center is large, and the power consumption of the IC is high, causing the high temperature or the inflection point voltage to be insufficient for the display color deviation caused by the constant current of the chip. The low turning point chip is the perfect solution to this problem.

In application case 1, the refresh rate of 2 sweep items can be as high as 7680 Hz. Using 1/1000 shutter shooting, since the refresh rate is more than 7 times that of the shutter, the photographs have no scan lines, and the gray scale also satisfies the basic shooting requirements.
