The new C8051F97x MCU family combines Silicon Labs' proven ultra-low power technology with the industry's fastest and most accurate capacitive sensing to provide the best touch solution for the IoT, home/building automation, consumer and industrial markets. The F97x MCU family offers industry-leading capacitive sensing technology with sub-micro (<1μA) touch-wake average current, 16-bit resolution and an unbeatable 100:1 dynamic range, with up to 43 channels and multiple Scan mode supports buttons, sliders, scrolls, and capacitive proximity sensing. The F97x MCU uses Silicon Labs' unique SAR charge-to-time capacitance-to-digital converter (CDC) technology. The high-resolution CDC's 40 microsecond capture time enables the industry's fastest capacitive touch sensing capability without sacrificing sensitivity performance.
Silicon Labs' CDC technology delivers superior noise immunity, providing reliable performance in the most challenging conditions and configurations, such as slab coverage, electronic noise or printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing variations. This advanced CDC hardware measures capacitance changes on a variety of materials such as PCBs, flexible circuits, and glass and films coated with indium tin oxide (ITO).
The F97x MCU family extends the performance of Silicon Labs' popular C8051F99x low-power capacitive sensing MCU with up to 43 capacitive sensing inputs, 32kB flash, 8kB RAM, 7 DMA channels and a 16x16 Multiply Accumulate (MAC) units are integrated into a tiny 4mm x 4mm QFN package. The F97x MCU also integrates an 8051-compatible core with a 25MHz pipeline structure, a precision oscillator, a 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a temperature sensor, a voltage reference, and four 16-bit general purpose timer/counters.
