Polymicro Technologies, a subsidiary of Molex , a leading global provider of interconnect products, recently announced an increase in its FDP fiber products, and the latest performance improvements have improved fiber exposure in deep UV applications (190nm - 325nm).

Teodor Tichindelean, Global Product Manager, Polymicro Technologies, said: "The introduction of fiber-optic FDP revolutionary UV applications has made us happy to bring enhanced FDP fiber products with better quality to our customers."

Polymicro's silica core FDP fiber features ultra-high UV transmission and ultra-low UV exposure for excellent radiation resistance. Operating at temperatures as low as 190 nm and with excellent deep UV resistance, FDP fiber has become the fiber of choice for applications in the deep UV range. The new FDP fiber provides better exposure to longer transmission times while minimizing damage to the fiber.

For deep UV applications, the effects of high levels of UV radiation can cause degradation in fiber transmission, which typically occurs after a few hours.

Tichindelean added: "The improved FDP fiber can increase light output by approximately 10% after initial degradation compared to previous models. For Polymicro customers, this translates into better light emission and longer product life. ""
