Toshiba sued Western Digital for claiming US$1.07 billion
[Global Science and Technology Report] According to the US media report on June 28, Toshiba Corporation announced today that the company has filed a lawsuit against Western Digital. Western Digital Corporation sits on the flash chip business and also operates the latter's main semiconductor factory with Toshiba.
Toshiba is currently facing an economic crisis and has had to sell its flash memory chip business in exchange for cash to maintain operations, but Western Digital believes Toshiba cannot sell its business without its consent.
Toshiba said in a statement that Western Digital interfered with Toshiba’s sale of its flash memory chip business and damaged the interests of Toshiba and Toshiba Storage Technologies, and filed a lawsuit requesting Western Digital to compensate a loss of US$1.07 billion (approximately 7.27 billion yuan).
