What kind of convenience does 5G bring to our lives? These experiences tell you the answer

To date, much of the discussion about the 5G new technology has focused on its engineering characteristics, infrastructure requirements, and public policy considerations. Technical terms such as "network slicing", "beamforming", and "multi-access edge computing" have arisen, but what convenience can 5G bring to our lives?

5G is not a replacement for 4G, but a supplement to 4G networks, which will greatly increase broadband speed, capacity and stability. How does it do it? 5G secures hundreds of small antenna boxes to cellular towers, utility poles and buildings, increasing the speed of movement from 100 Mbps to over 10 Gbps.

But what really excites is the new features of 5G, which is not possible with existing networks. These include sensory reforms, low-cost transmitters and cloud-based software for the "Internet of Objects" (Internet of Things).

Based on the human level 5G will be used to connect smart clothing, prosthetic devices, and even health testing equipment. Startup company Veristride has been working on the development of smart shoes since 2012. This may sound stupid, but for millions of Americans with temporary or permanent mobility problems, continuous feedback from on-board sensors can help them to walk or re-surgery.

What kind of convenience does 5G bring to our lives? These experiences tell you the answer

At home, 5G networks can help older people “get older”: monitor their medications, help them build relationships with telemedicine services, and from sleep to insulin levels, 5G will track every aspect of their lives.

Wanting to deploy a 5G network will require coordination from almost all federal, state, and local agencies. For example, the Federal Communications Commission is working to provide the huge new radio frequencies that 5G relies on and to ensure that local governments do not over-prolong the installation of new infrastructure. And Congress recently passed legislation to encourage its deployment in the federal government.

On the other hand, Wall Street is skeptical. It is estimated that in the next 5 to 10 years, the deployment of 5G technology in the United States alone will cost more than 200 billion U.S. dollars per year, and almost all of it comes from private investment.

With regard to 5G, consumers need to understand not only that it is better and faster. More is to know what it can bring to our lives.
